The Mandurah Universities Centre was established in 2025 to improve access to tertiary education for residents of the Peel region. Funded by the Australian Government through the Suburban University Study Hubs Program, the Centre is led locally by Regional Development Australia Peel to align with regional education and workforce priorities. All facilities and services are free, removing financial barriers for students.

More than just a study space, the Centre provides a supportive community for students enrolled at any Australian publicly funded tertiary provider. It accommodates a mix of online, hybrid, and face-to-face learners, offering quiet study spaces, collaborative areas, computers, high-speed internet, kitchenette and access to academic and wellbeing support.

Students can access the centre 24/7, enabling flexible study around work, family, and other commitments, and reducing the barriers that previously forced many to travel to Perth or relocate.

The Centre contributes to regional development by supporting residents to complete tertiary qualifications. Greater educational attainment strengthens the local workforce, provides industries with skilled labour, and reduces the need for residents to leave the region for study.

Since opening, 390 students have engaged with the Centre across a diverse community. A significant 73% of students who began using the Centre in 2025 have continued to access it into Semester 1, 2026, demonstrating that they find the space valuable and supportive for their studies.

This indicates that the program effectively meets the needs of a broad spectrum of learners, providing a safe, inclusive, free, and supportive environment where students can connect with peers and access academic resources locally.

The Mandurah Universities Centre aligns with the priorities of Regional Development Australia Peel by improving access to education, enhancing workforce capability, and contributing to long-term social and economic outcomes for the Peel region.
