Advocacy Delivering the Ballina Marina Master Plan
The Ballina Marina Master Plan presents a major opportunity to enhance the Shire’s waterfront, expand marine industry capacity, and strengthen Ballina’s role as a regional destination.
RDA Northern Rivers (RDANR) has strongly advocated for the project, recognising its potential to:
- Stimulate the local economy through tourism, recreation, and marine services
- Generate construction and long-term employment
- Create new business opportunities through modernised waterfront infrastructure
- Position Ballina as a regional hub for boating, fishing, and waterfront activity.
RDANR has worked with local stakeholders and engaged NSW Ministers and senior officials to maintain momentum for the project. This included:
- Promoting the Marina as a shovel-ready project in meetings with state Government Ministers
- Briefing the Premier’s Department on its economic and regional benefits
- Coordinating with Ballina Shire Council to ensure aligned advocacy
- Highlighting the project in regional planning and economic development forums.
Through ongoing advocacy, the Marina has been positioned as a priority regional infrastructure project that supports tourism, economic diversification, and job creation.
Looking ahead: With the Master Plan adopted and strong regional support, the focus now turns to securing investment and progressing delivery to realise long-term benefits for Ballina and the Northern Rivers.
