The Welcome Experience
RDA Northern Inland is excited to be partnering with the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development to bring The Welcome Experience to the local government areas of Armidale, Uralla and Tamworth.
Through the program, a range of essential workers and NSW Government employees that are moving or have recently moved will be welcomed and provided with free assistance to settle and enjoy the benefits of regional living. The support is tailored to the individual and includes assistance with ‘life stuff’ such as enrolling children into school and connecting with community groups. Government and non-government employees in specified occupations are eligible for the program, including general practitioners, aged care nurses, childcare workers, allied health professionals, teachers, health workers, veterinarians and emergency services workers.
Since beginning in September 2024, our two Local Connectors have received more than 350 enquires and have assisted more than 100 essential workers and their partners/dependents to settle in the region. We have received considerable positive feedback from The Welcome Experience clients:
“I am a Registered Nurse who migrated to Australia from the UK in October 2024 with my husband and two children. During my first day of arrival, I received a warm welcome and support from Katrina as a Local Connector. She gave orientation and guidance regarding Armidale local facilities and services, which helped me to connect with the Community and schools for our children. Moreover, she spent time following up with how we were coping in a new environment and provided assistance to find the best rental place. In addition, Katrina regularly updated me with job vacancies. I am really grateful for the services provided for me and my family.“
