Building Community Capacity Governance Training Workshops
RDA Goldfields Esperance delivered targeted governance training to address regional capacity gaps, with a particular focus on volunteer-led organisations and Aboriginal corporations.
Governance workshops were delivered in Kalgoorlie, Esperance, Ravensthorpe and Norseman in February, March and July 2025. Facilitated by local experts, the sessions focused on compliance, board responsibilities, budgeting, risk management, and regulatory reporting. Tailored resources and ongoing support materials were distributed.
Outcomes achieved were:
- Compliance: A Clear improvement in regulatory compliance across several associations
- Skills and local leadership: Community boards were empowered with knowledge and leadership tools
- Opportunities for First Nations People: Delivery was targeted to include First Nations people
- Connectivity: Community association networks were strengthened through shared governance learnings
- Decarbonisation: Integrated sustainability topics were addressed in governance sessions.
- Infrastructure: Boards were trained on facility and resource compliance
- Industry Growth: Governance was improved in First Nations enterprises and NFPs
- Measurables: There were 50+ attendees and three follow-up mentorship requests.
