Regional Development South Australia Regional Priorities Statement
RDA Adelaide (RDAA) facilitated the development of the Regional Development SA (RDSA) Regional Priorities Statement, Strong Regions, Smart Growth, launched in June 2025. To download a copy, please go to https://regionaldevelopmentsa.com.au/resources/.
The aim of the statement was to inform and guide RDAA/RDSA advocacy, engagement, and policy development, and it calls on governments, industry, and communities to collaborate on a bold new approach to regional development across South Australia.
The statement outlines a clear vision for productive, resilient, and globally competitive regions, underpinning the long-term prosperity and sustainability of the state. It outlines the strategic priorities and collaborative actions required to position regional South Australia at the forefront of the state’s growth agenda.
The statement centres on three critical pillars: Accelerating Advantage, Powering Potential with People, and Making it Matter. These pillars identify opportunities to enhance infrastructure, workforce, population growth, housing, and intergovernmental collaboration.
Key calls to action include:
- Developing a coordinated regional economic growth strategy with the SA Government
- Increasing investment in regional infrastructure and housing diversity
- Creating jobs and skills hubs to build resilient regional workforces
- Strengthening data-sharing to guide planning and improve service delivery
- Supporting population growth in regional hubs to reduce pressure on Greater Adelaide.
The Regional Priorities Statement also laid the foundation for future engagement through the 2025 RDSA Summit, held in Adelaide on 5 September, at which stakeholders explored actionable pathways aligned with the shared vision.
