Tuesday 30 October 2018

Local primary producers and food and beverage manufacturers have an opportunity for one-to-one appointments with industry experts under a program developed by Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland (RDAMR), in partnership with the South Australian Department of Industry and Skills.

Industry experts assist participants to determine how they can implement value adding practices to be a more viable and resilient enterprise. Following a successful Pilot in 2017, the program has been expanded so participants have the opportunity to book a follow up one-to-one appointment with the Expert conducted via phone, Skype or email.

More than a dozen experts were available for one-to-one appointments covering a range of topics including:

  • Exporting
  • Packaging innovation
  • Food technology and product development
  • Social media
  • Food safety and labelling
  • Protected cropping
  • Business growth and planning
  • Agritourism
  • Company structures, IP and succession planning
  • Supply chain certification
  • Business planning

Jo Podoliak, RDAMR Chief Executive Officer said, ‘The program has been developed because access to industry experts can be particularly challenging for regionally-based businesses despite our region’s reputation as a global food bowl’.

In conjunction with the program, RDA Murraylands and Riverland hosted workshops to compliment the Experts in Residence program, including:

  • Social Media Workshop; and
  • Packaging Innovation Seminar.
