Establishment of the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone

RDA Tasmania Committee has partnered with the Tasmanian Government, George Town Council and businesses in Tasmania’s largest advanced manufacturing precinct to support the establishment of Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ) committee.

The partners are funding a project officer to roll out a pilot program to increase economic activity and employment in the region.

The partnership has led to greater business collaboration, joint procurement and a renewed focus on supporting job opportunities for the community that surrounds the precinct.

One of the early successes of the partnership is the establishment of a registered training organisation (RTO), KEEN Partners Ltd. To support the establishment of the RTO, RDA Tasmania successfully applied for a $200,000 workforce development grant from Skills Tasmania. The funding will assist KEEN Partners achieve their goal of employing 20 apprentice and trainee positions in 2019, with the aim of increasing this to 100 positons by the end of the project in 2022.
