More information on RDA in your state:
RDA ACT is the single committee for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and is supported by a partnership between the Australian and ACT Governments.
The RDA ACT Regional Plan acknowledges the importance of the ACT and Canberra's three dimensions - as a city in its own right, as the nation's capital, and in its role as a hub of the region. RDA ACT's scope of operations is focussed on the ACT, but it has a close working relationship with surrounding local governments in New South Wales, and with the Australian Government , in order to progress mutually beneficial outcomes for stakeholders and residents in the ACT and the greater South East NSW region.
RDA ACT has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in place with RDA Southern Inland, which encompasses all of the NSW local government areas surrounding the ACT. Under the MOU, both RDA committees work collaboratively in areas of mutual interest - with a particular focus on economic development, the environment and education.
Further information can be found at the ACT Government Chief Minister and Cabinet Directorate or the RDA ACT website.
RDA committees in Victoria comprise local leaders with broad and diverse skills and experience, as well as demonstrated networks within their region. Committee members are individuals who understand the challenges, opportunities and priorities within their local community. In Victoria, these committees work in partnership with Regional Development Victoria and the Regional Managers Forum, ensuring integrated and aligned arrangements for regional engagement and economic development in the state and regional communities.
In Victoria, RDA committees:
- work closely with regional organisations and local governments to identify regional and cross regional priorities
- support the Murray-Darling Basin draft plan consultation process
- support the transition process to a low carbon economy in the Latrobe Valley
- provide independent advice to the three levels of Government on regional development priorities, and
- focus on informing and influencing key partners' and other organisations' service and project delivery
Further information can be found at the Regional Development Victoria website.
RDA Northern Territory is a single committee which covers the whole of the Northern Territory, including the Tiwi Islands and Groote Eylandt. The Northern Territory comprises six regions around local government boundaries, Darwin, Palmerston, Litchfield and surrounds; the Tiwi Islands; East Arnhem; Katherine and the Roper Gulf Region; Tennant Creek and the Barkly region; Alice Springs and Central Desert region.
RDA Northern Territory has been undertaking a broad range of initiatives to support its Regional Plans priorities for sustainable economic development following the five key themes across the Northern Territory.
RDA Northern Territory has a cooperative relationship with the Northern Territory Government, which is outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding, along with a strong working relationship with the Local Government Association of Northern Territory. These relationships ensure integrated and aligned arrangements for regional engagement and economic development across the Northern Territory.
