Introducing the New Regional Development Australia Website

Hello, and welcome to the new Regional Development Australia website.

I'm Maxine McKew.

In my role as Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Development and Local Government, I've been criss-crossing the country meeting with our new RDA committees.

I'm pleased to report to you that there's a lot of enthusiasm about our new national network of 55 committees and about the opportunities for real collaboration across all levels of Government.

Our regions play a key role in the economic, social and environmental health of the country.

As I've been saying to the RDA Chairs and Deputy Chairs, our new network will work best when we work across boundaries and when we develop partnerships with like-minded allies, whether they be in business, community organisations or local government.

Members of RDA have been chosen because they are champions of regional development in their community.

They're there to provide a strong voice for regional Australia and for sustainable development for your community.

The success of this new endeavour will depend on a number of things - our energy, our capacity to share ideas, and our ability to think strategically about the future needs of our regions.

I always think we are at our best when we work together and share our wisdom with others.

This website will help that.

It includes links to range of things that I know you'll find useful.

Fact sheets, maps and publications and other Government portals including the Regional Entry Point website and GrantsLink.

The RDA newsroom is where you can check out community success stories, or catch up on the latest developments.

There is so much happening in our regions. I'm always amazed and delighted by the ingenuity and enterprise I see in the people of regional Australia.

So many great stories, and so much potential.

Let's work together to spread the good news.
