RDA arrangements in WA
On 25 August 2009, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) prescribing the operating arrangements for RDA in WA was signed by Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Maxine McKew MP and WA Minister for Regional Development, the Hon Brendan Grylls MLA.
The RDA network in WA operates in parallel with the WA Regional Development Commissions (RDCs). Cooperation and collaboration at the local level will be achieved through the development of written agreements between RDAs and RDCs about respective roles in each region.
In order to foster greater integration between RDAs and RDCs, their boundaries were aligned. The exception is the Mid West Gascoyne region, where one RDA committee covers two RDCs.
With the exception of Perth, all RDA committees in WA are incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1987 (WA).
The Perth region is represented by an advisory committee. The Australian Government is currently negotiating a funding agreement with the Western Australia Local Government Association to provide support to the committee.
