RDA arrangements in Victoria
RDA in Victoria is a partnership between the Australian and Victorian Governments.
On 26 June 2009, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) setting out the arrangements for the RDA network in Victoria was signed by Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Maxine McKew MP, and the Victorian Minister for Regional and Rural Development, the Hon Jacinta Allan MP.
Victorian RDA committees are unincorporated advisory bodies. The Victorian Government, as represented by Regional Development Victoria (RDV), provide the Victorian RDA committees with the administrative support they need to deliver RDA activities. There are 9 committees in Victoria which are generally aligned with the Victorian Government administrative areas.

RDA committee membership in Victoria
The key features of the RDA committees in Victoria, as agreed in the MoU, are:
- each committee will have up to ten members, including a Chair, Deputy Chair and at least three local government representatives;
- for the five provincial RDA committees, one of the ten committee members will be a representative from the Victorian Regional Development Advisory Council (to be nominated by the Victorian Government);
- committee appointments will be for up to three years;
- committee members will be jointly appointed by Australian Government and Victorian Ministers responsible for Regional Development;
- in making appointments, the Ministers will consider the composition of the committee in terms of gender, skills, demonstrated community leadership, and cross sectoral diversity; and
- Chairs and Deputy Chairs are to be leading members of the community with a strong understanding of the economic, social, and environmental opportunities and challenges facing their communities.
Local government representation on the committees ensures that the three levels of government work in partnership to benefit local communities and find local solutions.
Committee members are committed volunteers drawn from the region who represent the community, business and local government. Applications for committee membership are obtained through Expression of Interest (EoI) processes. Applications are now closed. Find out more about EoI process for RDA committees in Victoria.
