RDA arrangements in SA

RDA in SA is a tripartite arrangement, comprising the Australian Government, the South Australian Government and the Local Government Association of South Australia.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing RDA in SA, was signed on 29 June 2009 by Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Maxine McKew MP, South Australian Minister for Regional Development, the Hon Paul Caica MP, and President of the Local Government Association of South Australia, Felicity-ann Lewis.

The three spheres of government agreed to form a network of eight RDA committees to replace previous regional development arrangements. All governments contribute funding to the network.

Seven non-metropolitan RDA committees have be established as incorporated associations under the Associations Incorporations Act (1985) SA. These committees represent the integration of four non-metropolitan Area Consultative Committees and thirteen Regional Development Boards.

In the Adelaide metropolitan region, an unincorporated RDA advisory committee was established to replace the existing Adelaide Metropolitan Area Consultative Committee.
