Western Australia

On 25 August 2009, the Australian Government Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Maxine McKew, and the Western Australian Minister for Regional Development and Lands, Brendon Grylls, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the Australian and Western Australian governments setting out the arrangements for Regional Development Australia in Western Australia.

The MoU supports the adoption of more integrated and aligned arrangements for regional engagement and economic development between the Australian Government through the RDA network, and the Western Australian Government through the Regional Development Commissions.

Committee Members

Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Development, Maxine McKew, and Parliamentary Secretary for Western Australia, Gary Gray, announced the membership of the Western Australian RDA Committees on 7 December 2009.

Chairs and Deputy Chairs Meeting with Parliamentary Secretary McKew and Minister Grylls

The newly appointed Chairs and Deputy Chairs of the WA RDA Committees attended a meeting on Friday, 29 January 2010 with the Hon Maxine McKew MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, and the Hon Brendon Grylls, WA Minister for Regional Development and Lands. 

Participants discussed their roles in RDA, and its work program.  Cr Bill Mitchell, President of the Western Australia Local Government Association, also attended the meeting.

This meeting followed an induction seminar for Chairs and Deputy Chairs of the WA RDA Committees held on 16 December 2009 held by the Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government to discuss the operational and governance issues.
