Regional Development Australia

Queensland

On 14 May 2009, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Parliamentary Secretary, Gary Gray, and Premier, Anna Bligh on behalf of the Australian and Queensland Governments.  The MOU establishes the framework for the establishment of Regional Development Australia in Queensland.  It also signals the start of a new State and Federal Government partnership to create a network to work with and grow the regions in Queensland.

Governments have agreed that 12 newly incorporated RDA Committees will be established, and will be based on local government boundaries.

Committee Members

The Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Maxine McKew MP, and the Queensland Minister for Primary Industries, Fisheries and Rural and Regional Queensland, the Hon Tim Mulherin MP, announced the membership of Queensland RDA Committees on 29 October 2009.

Induction training for Chairs and Deputy Chairs

The newly appointed Chairs and Deputy Chairs of the 12 RDA Queensland committees attended an Induction Seminar on Thursday, 26 November 2009.  Participants met and discussed their roles and responsibilities with officers from the Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Queensland Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation, and a representative from the Local Government Association of Queensland.  Participants also discussed the purpose of RDA, its work program, operation and governance.
