Northern TerritoryOn 26 June 2009, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Parliamentary Secretary, the Hon Maxine McKew MP and Northern Territory Minister for Regional Development, the Hon Karl Hampton MLA, on behalf of the Australian and Northern Territory Governments, setting out the arrangements for the creation of Regional Development Australia (RDA) in the Territory. This MoU supports the adoption of more integrated and aligned arrangements for regional engagement and economic development between the Australian and Northern Territory Governments. RDA NT AppointmentsThe Chair and Deputy Chair of RDA NT was announced by the Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government the Hon Maxine McKew and the NT Minister for Regional Development the Hon Karl Hampton on 15 July 2009. The remaining committee members were announced on 11 August 2009 by Parliamentary Secretary McKew, Minister Hampton and the Australian Government Minister for Indigenous Health, Rural Health and Regional Service Delivery the Hon Warren Snowdon.
Governments have agreed that there will be one RDA Committee in NT that will cover all local government boundaries. Committee MembersMapsInductionThe newly appointed RDA NT committee attended an Induction Seminar on 22 September 2009. Participants were welcomed and addressed by Mr Damien Hale MP, Member for Solomon, who represented the Hon Maxine McKew MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. The committee discussed their roles in RDA with departmental representatives and also focused on the purpose of RDA NT, its work program, operation and governance.
